I am a Congenital Diaphragmatic Hernia (CDH) baby. My diaphragm developed with a hole in it and my organs were misplaced in my chest cavity. The organs pushed on my lungs, causing one lung to be very small. I was born on October 9, 2007 at Johns Hopkins. Now it is three years later: I am saying a bunch of words, I still receive foods through a g-tube and am on oxygen while I sleep. I can't walk yet, but believe I can out scoot anyone! Here is the story of my amazing and patient recovery.

Wyatt in the recovery room shortly after surgery
Most recent pic on the 6th floor- sleeping soundly so that's why I am on my computer!
Gina - I'm so glad you are keeping this site up to date - I have been refreshing my browser often to get news of Wyatt's surgery. So happy that he is doing well.
Gina, I just wanted you to know that I check your blog daily for updates on Wyatt. I've been praying for him, as has my husband. I'm so glad that he came through his surgery today with flying colors. He really is a strong young man! My thoughts and prayers continue to be with Wyatt and the rest of your family! I can't wait to see a post saying he's going home!!!
I hope that Wyatt will be able to come home soon so maybe later I can babysit him and his sister!!!!!!!!!!! I am so glad that his surgery went well!!!!!! Wyatt must be one strong baby, because I know that I would be scared to get surgery. I hope everything goes well, and again that he will come home soon. Good luck!! Love,Grace
Wyatt...you look so peaceful!!! I hope you get a good night's sleep tonite and are feeling better tomorrow....you look WONDERFUL!!!! Lots of hugs, Karen :)
Benji and Gina, so glad to hear surgery went well. Wyatt looks great. The kids are reading Dr. Carson's book "Gifted Hands" so they think it is so neat that he did Wyatt's surgery. Gina, keep being a great advocate. I know that patient's families who ask questions and make requests, get the best care. Keep being persuasive. Stay strong, Wyatt. So many people are praying for you. We can't wait till you come home. Maria
