Friday Update

I don't want to jinx myself...but it seems like Wyatt is finally turning the corner. When we came home from Mt. Wash, Wyatt reherniated, was spitting up often and was uncomfortable. After his repair on April 17th, it took a while for him to recover. He was in pain, on oxycodone and developed a cold with a lot of chest congestion. I finally sense that he is feeling good! Wyatt is generally a happy baby- he discovered his feet and loves to grab them and kick his "Itsy Bitsy Spiders" He rarely spits up and is gaining weight. I think I might get the exersaucer out from our basement and see how he likes it! During out peditrician appointment last Monday, Wyatt weighed 14lb 10oz. Since then, we have been increasing his feeds. He is currently up to 39 ml/hr and 40ml is our goal and so far he is tolerating the increase. I think on Saturday night we might achieve the goal! The infusion nurse is coming tomorrow to change his central line dressing. I am hoping we can remove it soon, because it is red and either has puss or some liquid is getting into the dressing- which is not good. It didn't look so good on Wednesday, so I changed it. I get a little nervous about changing it, because you need everything to be sterile (it's called a sterile field). On Tuesday morning Wyatt is getting a chest x-ray at Hopkins and then we have a follow up appointment with his surgeons. I am hoping to get the central line out then!! Then we have an appointment with his peditrician for his shots:(( It's going to be a busy Tuesday!!

If you want proof that there is a God, just read Baby Sklya's update! She looks amazing and she is a true miracle. She has made tremendous progress since Monday and we are so happy for her and her family. Keep praying for her!!!

Also, my friend Vicki (Jack's Mom) co-worker delivered a baby- Baby Andrew with CDH in February and I just discovered his blog. It's a heart-felt story of a tough little boy and worth reading about.

Thank you so much for taking the time to look at Andrew's blog and then to say something about it on Wyatt's. Please feel free to add Andrew's link to the other CDH patients list on wyatts blog.
