I am a Congenital Diaphragmatic Hernia (CDH) baby. My diaphragm developed with a hole in it and my organs were misplaced in my chest cavity. The organs pushed on my lungs, causing one lung to be very small. I was born on October 9, 2007 at Johns Hopkins. Now it is three years later: I am saying a bunch of words, I still receive foods through a g-tube and am on oxygen while I sleep. I can't walk yet, but believe I can out scoot anyone! Here is the story of my amazing and patient recovery.

Back to Mt. Wash!
Wyatt's stats are stable and he is currently getting two antibiotics. His IV was pulled out today so the antibiotics are through his g-tube now. Around 2pm, he was transferred back to Mt. Washington. The plan is to see how the weekend goes and then determine a date to go home. Since his antibiotics are through his tube, he can go home on them. Hopefullly the weekend goes well and we will see Wyatt home soon. But I am not telling him that!!! We are trying a new strategy and I am not telling him a thing!!! Meanwhile, Chloe's room is going to get painted this weekend, and we will be even more prepared for Wyatt. I have a mini hospital room in our family room with the crib, dresser, and changing table. I even made a notebook full of charts to document his temp, feeds, medications, diapers, etc.... Our scale arrived today too!! We are all ready.

Are you sure Wyatt's not addicted to ambulance rides? It sure seems like it from this end. OK, just kidding. That is good news though that they feel he's stable enough to go back to Mt Wash and that he can just get the antibiotics through his tube. It's great that you'll have a home nurse so that should take away any anxiety. Yeah for Chloe getting a new color in her room! She must be excited!
A word of advice for you with the scale. Don't let yourself get too crazy with day to day weights. They'll tell you 1.2 oz to 1 oz a day is what they want. Sometimes Jack would go DAYS with no weight gain then have this growth spurt and gain a few ounces in 1-2 days. It's the weekly trend that's important. If I didn't send you the Hopkins growth chart in Excel let me know. It's good to track the trends that way. I also track Jack's daily fluid intake this way but you can also tell just by how many wet diapers Wyatt has.
We're praying your little fighter gets home real soon!

oops...just realized I wrote the wrong thing. I meant 0.5 to 1 oz per day! It's really late!
