In surgery now

Wyatt just went to sleep and is in surgery. His anesthesiologist is Dr. Fackler who was the doctor who weaned him off ECMO, so he knows Wyatt very well. We also met with his surgeons, Dr. Chandler and Dr. Columbani and they said they were going to use an ALLODERM patch which is made of human cells. Wyatt's cells will grow over it hoping to prevent reherniation. Also, a human body can not reject it like it could an organ transplant. Click on this link to learn more- http://www.alloderm.com/products/96/ The anesthesiologists are currently working on IV access, so the surgeons have not made any incisions yet. The OR nurse will inform us of the first cut after the surgeons get started. We are hoping to avoid putting in a central line since Wyatt has had three already. Keep those prayers coming that IV access is attainable and surgery begins soon and that's it's successful. Wyatt will probably go to the PICU afterwards since this surgery is more serious than the others. Also, if you want to see a warm hearted video that's a tear jerker, go to Baby Sofia's blog and view the video of Good News.. the first time Sofia was held. Make sure your speaker is turned on... it will make you feel good and cry. It reminds us of the first time we held Wyatt... same feelings. Also, go to Baby Jack's blog to view a video of his first word... we are so proud of Jack!!

Update- the OR nurse just called us and they are having trouble with the IV. They put in an arterial line in his wrist but they are currently trying to put in a femoral (sp??) line in his groin that will last longer. So the actually surgery has not begun yet, but Wyatt is sound asleep and can feel nothing.
