Bummed out...

Today we had a busy day. We had a surgically appointment with Wyatt's surgeon this morning and then an appointment with his pediatrician. Dr. A looked at Wyatt's chest x-ray and seemed concern. It looks like there is a small part of his bowel in his chest! Yes... it seems like Wyatt re-herniated again for the third time. Just when I was so happy about finally turning the corner, no more operations, no central line, we get this news:(( Wyatt needs a break!!! Well, Dr. A does not want to be too aggressive about it. Wyatt is not showing big signs of re-herniation so he would like to wait and have Wyatt grow and get stronger. Who knows, while we are waiting, maybe the bowel will slide back down to it's correct spot, or maybe the x-ray just wasn't clear?? Wyatt will get another x-ray in about a month and we will return to see Dr. A in early July. Meanwhile, Wyatt's surgeon is going to meet with the surgical team and come up with a plan. IF Wyatt did reherniate, there is a possibility that he will not be repaired with a Gortex patch, but rather a piece of muscle from another place in his body such as his back. I just want our little baby to get a break!!! Benji reminded me that this is a marathon and not a sprint... that Wyatt is a winner with everything that he has endured, the head bleed, vocal cord Persis, two reherniations, etc... that he is doing GREAT!! Just pray that our next chest x-ray shows a normal chest!!!

Wyatt also received four shots today and he is finally up to date on his immunizations. He was a champ during the shots. On Saturday in the ER, a culture was taken of the central line site. Our pediatrician today looked up the results and it is growing bacteria!! We just have to keep the site very clean since it's an open wound... but thank goodness we made the decision to go to the ER on Saturday to have it removed. Please pray for Wyatt to remain healthy and for those intestines to go back where they belong!!

On a happy note, Chloe spent joined us today to Wyatt's appointments and she was so good! As a special treat we all went to Fuddrukers for lunch. It was our very first family outing with the two kids and Wyatt's first place in public besides a dr. appt. Wyatt decided to sleep, but Chloe enjoyed it!

On another happy note, Baby Ned is home!!! Congratulations to Baby Ned and his family... we are so happy for you! Baby Sofia should be coming home this weekend!! yeah!!

By the way, the University of Michagen has a great website on CDH. It even has a video of a real CDH repair. It's about 5 minutes to watch and it's really cool!!

Geez...why does Wyatt have to keep proving how strong he is? I feel like we all know it so he should get a break for once. I'm praying that it was a bad angle or something. I also hope the bacteria were just a contaminant and not really from his central line.

As always we're pulling for you guys. Wyatt can do this!

Oh no, I so hate that Wyatt reherniated again! Hopefully he won't have anymore symptoms and can wait awhile for the repair.

Thanks so much for posting that article and video, it was very interesting and answered a lot of my questions.
