Today he was moved back to the regular floor. He’s talking, telling the nurses when and how to give his meds, and is back to his self. Now we can focus on getting stronger, walking and healing. He even had a little smile. There’s always something, but nothing he can’t handle! Wyatt just shared with me that he was scared yesterday. He felt like he was suffocating. Tomorrow is a new day and we are going to focus on all the positives!
I am a Congenital Diaphragmatic Hernia (CDH) baby. My diaphragm developed with a hole in it and my organs were misplaced in my chest cavity. The organs pushed on my lungs, causing one lung to be very small. I was born on October 9, 2007 at Johns Hopkins. Now it is three years later: I am saying a bunch of words, I still receive foods through a g-tube and am on oxygen while I sleep. I can't walk yet, but believe I can out scoot anyone! Here is the story of my amazing and patient recovery.

Out of PICU
Wyatt gave us a BIG scare yesterday. There were multiple things going on. His red blood cell was 1.5 and Hemoglobin was 6. His left lung was filled with fluid and he felt like he was suffocating, his shunt tubing disconnected and he was very very lethargic with minimal pain meds. His eyes were dilated and he could hardly speak. It was terrifying. All this was going on while Chloe had her last day of junior year and was getting ready for a dance. To address all this- Wyatt had a blood transfusion and was given iron in his fluids. He started Lasix and chest PT to address the fluid. His chest tube was removed. He had an eye exam to test pressures. He had a brain MRI shunt series to test if he needs his shunt anymore. All tests were normal.
