I am a Congenital Diaphragmatic Hernia (CDH) baby. My diaphragm developed with a hole in it and my organs were misplaced in my chest cavity. The organs pushed on my lungs, causing one lung to be very small. I was born on October 9, 2007 at Johns Hopkins. Now it is three years later: I am saying a bunch of words, I still receive foods through a g-tube and am on oxygen while I sleep. I can't walk yet, but believe I can out scoot anyone! Here is the story of my amazing and patient recovery.

Our little guy.....
We are sitting in the PICU. I am glad he is spending his first night in the PICU. Wyatt arrived in the PICU in a lot of pain. He is restrained down with a mask on and was crying just looking at me:((( very sad... but then the wonderful nurses gave him a fentanyl drip and he fell fast asleep (see above). The team of docs during his ECMO days are on service here in the PICU and we feel really good about that.

Been with you all day! Will continue to keep all of you in our thoughts and prayers!
I was really happy to see that Wyatt's not on a vent post-op. I hope the pain team does a good job and keeps everything managed well. I'll keep Wyatt in my prayers tonight for a speedy recovery.
Love

Wyatt looks like a little baby Jesus in this picture! I am so glad he is home now. He's such a strong boy and he has a strong family to support him! Love you.
